I am a third-generation Glen Cover. My wife, Debbie, and I have two children. I attended Glen Cove schools and graduated from Long Island University. I am a former member of the planning and zoning boards, member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Improvement District, past president of the Glen Cove Rotary, involved in the Gift of Life Program, owner of the DiLeo Insurance Agency in Glen Cove and City Councilman since 2006.
Glen Cove needs to continue concentrating on fiscal responsibility, quality of life issues, illegal housing, protection of our waterfront and future growth. I am proud of the accomplishments of our present administration headed by Mayor Ralph Suozzi and look forward to seeing the results of the careful planning that he has initiated over the past 21 months.
As a business owner, I know that there are decisions that won't always endear you to all involved, but you need to do what is right, even if unpopular. I feel that my experiences in the area of business, my time spent on city endeavors, my daily association with professionals, and the compassion I have for my fellow citizens have prepared me to help our city move in a direction we all can be proud of.
I serve with honor as your city councilman - a responsibility I take seriously. I look forward to your support again to represent your voices and to see that what has begun in our present administration comes to fruition.
Mr. DiLeo is running on the Democratic and Glen Cove Voters party lines.

Delia DiRiggi-Whitton

I was 5 months old when my family moved to the Dosoris Woods section of Glen Cove. My earliest memories are looking up at enormous trees that seemed to touch the sky.
Growing up I enjoyed many benefits. Attending local schools, I met children from nearby. Many of those friends I still see in Glen Cove. Like me, they have chosen to now raise their families here. As a teenager I taught swimming at Pryibil Beach, and later worked at our beautiful golf course. At Glen Cove High School I was a member of the softball team which won the county championship and named MVP and twice All-County pitcher.
At that time my father was mayor, and I saw firsthand the hard work and dedication needed to run the city. I met my husband Bill (a third-generation Glen Cover) while I was attending Hofstra University. I worked as a paralegal for Rivkin, Radler and Kremer, then as a claim representative at State Farm.
In addition to being a mom to three young daughters, I am an active volunteer and board member of the Diabetes Research Institute. I have written and received four grants and developed programs, garnering $100,000 for this important cause and I co-chair an annual fundraiser featuring chef Jeanine Dimenna of Page One.
I am running for the city council at this important time because I have a vested interest in promoting responsible development, financial accountability and protection of the environment for our community.
Ms. DiRiggi-Whitton is running on the Democratic and Glen Cove Voters party lines.

I was born and raised in this city - educated in Glen Cove Schools - and love Glen Cove. It is in this spirit that I seek the office of city council.
My wife, Leslie and I have three daughters, all attending Glen Cove Schools. We are members of the PTA and former members of the schools' site committees. Leslie is past president and current vice president of the PTA. I serve on the city's Industrial Development Agency and Community Development Agency.
I founded and operated a successful business and managed regional and national production for privately held corporations and for divisions of two Fortune 50 companies.
The waterfront development, taxes and quality of life are the main issues confronting our city today.
The waterfront must be developed consistent with the character of the city. We must continue to find productive ways to increase our tax base and innovative ways to reduce expenses. School taxes represent 63 percent of our taxes. We must partner with the school district and state officials to fix state formulas to ensure that we get our fair share of state aid. Illegal housing will continue to be further reduced through higher fines. We must push traffic back onto main streets to eliminate neighborhood cut-throughs. We need to create distinct residential and commercial zones and continue to aggressively confront deferred maintenance throughout the city.
I believe the city's brightest days are ahead of us, but it will take your support to help us make it a reality.
Mr. Dwyer is running on the Democratic and Glen Cove Voters party lines.

I am a third-generation Glen Cover and president and CEO of the YMCA of Long Island, a $25 million not-for-profit organization that serves over 100,000 individuals in social, educational, cultural, and recreational activities in 26 Long Island communities. Employing over 1,000 employees, the organization, whose corporate headquarters are in Glen Cove, is one of our country's largest corporate YMCAs.
My skills, developed during a highly successful 30-year YMCA career, will be of critical support to the city. I have received numerous professional awards and recognition for program innovation, fund development, strategic planning and organizational management. My leadership in developing sound business strategies has resulted in a consistent top 10 national ranking in financial performance for the organization. My proven expertise in management and finances are assets that will enhance operations for the city.
I am a strong advocate for the proper development of the waterfront and its potentially positive impact on the finances of the city. I am in favor of a multi-use development that does not include 16-story towers. My negotiation skills, acquired in a multitude of complex capital projects, will be of great assistance to the city as it moves forward with the project.
An inductee in the North Shore High School Sports Hall of Fame, I received an athletic scholarship to Seton Hall University, starring on its nationally ranked baseball team. I have also toured the country on the World Championship County Sports Softball Team. I hope to serve as liaison to the city recreation department.

Tony Jimenez

I have lived in Glen Cove for 24 years with my wife, Kathy, an RN, and my daughter, Nina, a recent graduate of Glen Cove High School. My adult son, Christopher, lives in California.
I was a surgical technician in Glen Cove Hospital, then a New York State court officer for 13 years, and am now assistant to the Commissioner of Jurors and facility coordinator in Nassau County Supreme Court. A U.S. Army Vietnam veteran (sergeant), I was awarded the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal for bravery under fire, the Air Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge serving my country. As volunteer and former chief for Glen Cove Emergency Medical Service for more than 14 years, I have responded to more than 5,500 calls for emergency medical care throughout our city. I am a member of the Young-Simmons American Legion Post and the Sons of Italy.
I am currently on the City Council - my area of special interest is the youth of Glen Cove. I have been a youth mentor for more than seven years and am the liaison to the Glen Cove Youth Board. I am a member of the Community PRIDE Committee and the city park improvement committee.
I believe that my history of service in the military, volunteerism for EMS and youth activities, and professional law and order and medical care experience demonstrate a life committed to protecting and serving others. I love serving our city as a councilman and hope our community allows me to continue.

Tim Tenke
|
I've been a city councilman since 2005, first serving on the planning board. I have been a trial attorney for nearly 17 years, trying cases before juries and mediating and arbitrating matters outside of the court system.
My role as a councilman has enabled me to address many of the concerns my friends and neighbors have in the city, including an accurate disclosure of the city's deficit and financial condition. The focus now is to actively and aggressively explore measures in which to reduce the deficit without having to lean on an already-overburdened taxpayer. Revenues generated through building permits, sewer hookups and possible asset sales are some possible measures.
Another issue was the random overbuilding and subdivision of lots within our city. I voted for the moratorium on the subdivision of lots, and support its continuance until we have a comprehensive master plan to control growth in our neighborhoods.
The issue that generates the greatest passion from our residents is the waterfront. The waterfront needs to be developed; however, I do not support 16-story buildings. The project must take into account the wants and needs of the community and not just what the developer proposes.
With your support, I look forward to continuing to serve as your councilman and making Glen Cove a better place for all of us.
Mr. Tenke is running on the Democratic and Glen Cove Voters party lines.

Kerry Catanzano

As a lifelong resident of Glen Cove and a product of Glen Cove schools, I am proud to have been selected by the Glen Cove Republican Committee to serve as a city council candidate. I will make the best of my run with hard and dedicated work if I am elected by this community in our wonderful City of Glen Cove.
I am a retired commodity broker who worked for 20 years at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Early in my career I executed trades and advised major brokerage firms such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and many fund groups which traded crude oil, natural gas and gasoline. I was vice president of floor operations.
I started my own company in 1993 called Catanzano Trading and retired in 2000. Presently I own Catanzano Real Estate Holdings Corp., which is a company that buys and sells real estate.
If elected, I would like to restore fiscal responsibility to the City of Glen Cove. I would like to develop the waterfront property with integrity and for the people of Glen Cove. We need to restore jobs and preserve open space. I would like to take hold of the illegal housing issues and educate absentee landlords. We desperately need a safe facility for our youth in Glen Cove. Intelligence, honesty and hard work are what I will bring to the city council. Please vote for myself as well as all the members on Reggie Spinello's ticket to put Glen Cove over the top in the coming years.
Mr. Catanzano is running on the Republican, Independence and Conservative party lines.

I am a third-generation lifelong resident of Glen Cove and the son of Mitzy and Ben Farnan, former commissioner of the Glen Cove Police Department. I, along with my brothers Kelly and Logan, am an alumnus of Glen Cove High School. During my high school years I was a four-year letterman in football and lacrosse, being captain of the lacrosse team my senior year. Before graduating in 1980, I served my class as student senate president. I attended Adelphi University, graduating in 1984 with a BA degree in business administration and finance Minor. My wife, Camille, and I have three daughters, Remi, Gillian and Shelbie.
I am one of the founding members and the current treasurer of the Glen Cove Jr. Lacrosse Club. I have recently been volunteering as a coach for the girls at the Glen Cove Jr. Soccer and Softball programs.
I was the delegate chair of the Glen Cove Girl Scout organization for the past six years and also serve as a cookie dad. I am currently a national general adjuster at Tokio Marine and Nichido Fire Insurance Company.
I have been consistently kept abreast of community events and have been in attendance at city council meetings. My desire is to hopefully bring another point of view and an objective perspective to the many difficult issues facing the City of Glen Cove.

Over the last 10 years, I've seen the City of Glen Cove go from a city of renewed promise to a city that is quickly becoming a ghost town due to the number of people leaving because it is not cost-effective to live here. Why should they be subjected to insane taxes and a quickly deteriorating quality of life, when they can move (even after their families have been here for generations) either down south or out east and pay less in taxes and get better services?
I am running for city council because I also believe that the city's future is being squandered by an unresponsive government that appears to be only interested in hiring consultants for the next "megaproject" instead of getting our roads repaired, keeping our finances in line and providing programs for our young adults. During my time as a member of the Community Scholarship Fund Committee, I have seen what the young people of the city, our future, are capable of accomplishing when they are given the encouragement and opportunity to succeed.
We, as citizens, must also be allowed to have meaningful input into an intelligent development of the waterfront. As a member of the city council, my experience as an attorney, CPA and auditor combined with my passion for Glen Cove will give the citizens of the city a voice in the government that will listen to what is being said and has the know-how to get things accomplished.
Mr. Hanley is running on the Republican, Independence and Conservative party lines.

I am senior trial counsel to the law firm of Finder and Cuomo, specializing in municipal law. I am married to the former Jo-Ann Cappiello, a lifelong resident of Glen Cove and a teacher in the Locust Valley School District. We have four children, ages 15, 21, 24 and 26.
As an involved resident, I have been appointed to Glen Cove boards and commissions by mayors on both sides of the political aisle and am currently serving my second term as a member of the Glen Cove Library Board, having been elected in 2004.
If there is anything we have learned in recent years, it is that Glen Cove can ill afford a city council whose members are simply followers or who feel that they need not answer to our residents for their actions. We now see the unfortunate results of the rubberstamping of inappropriate budgets and of the drafting, recommendation and approval of the waterfront zoning ordinance by members of our city council, some of whom seek re-election.
Those who know me both professionally and in public life know that I am someone who is willing and able to ask the tough questions and to make the tough decisions. As an active, and sometimes outspoken, member of our community, I have demanded accountability on the part of our officials, both elected and appointed. You can and should expect nothing less of me as your city councilman.
Mr. Meli is running on the Republican, Independence and Conservative party lines.

I am a fourth-generation Glen Cove resident. I graduated from Glen Cove High School and Boston University with a BA in psychology and mathematics. Being a lifelong resident I have a true commitment to the city and a vested interest from a fiscal and developmental standpoint.
My great-grandparents opened Singer's in 1901 and my parents, Edith and Stanley Eisenstadt, owned and operated Eisenstadt's Hardware. I am married to Jeff Perlman and have three children, Wendy, Jason and Randi, and a granddaughter, Eden.
For the past eight years, I have been working in the GCHS athletic department. Since 1998 I have served on the Glen Cove Youth Board as secretary, vice chairperson and presently chairperson. I am a staunch advocate for youth and was president of Gribbin PTA, president of Council of PTAs and currently president of GCHS Booster Club for the past 10 years. In addition, I am secretary of the Glen Cove Community Scholarship Fund, member of the North Shore Lions, president of the Glen Cove Educational Support Association, and have served as president of Hadassah and board member of Congregation Tifereth Israel.
This year I was honored by Glen Cove Council of PTAs for my commitment to advocating for our young people, their educational programs and the community at large. I truly love this city and believe that its diversity has helped to make me a more tolerant and caring individual. My roots are in Glen Cove and if elected, I'll work diligently to make Glen Cove a better place to live, work and raise a family for our residents.
Ms. Perlman is running on the Republican, Independence and Conservative party lines.

I have lived in Glen Cove most of my life, raised my children here and love Glen Cove. My son is a Glen Cove police officer and my daughter lives in New Mexico. My mother, Naomi Sukman taught kindergarten for 25 years in Glen Cove and my father, Dr. Charles Sukman was director of guidance at Locust Valley High School.
I have worked for the City of Glen Cove Youth Bureau for 19 years. As family services director I have met and worked with diverse members of the community. I feel they are an important part of Glen Cove. They need to be recognized as an integral part of our community and be included in all of the functions and activities that go on here. It is also important for us to concentrate on finding places to hang out and activities for our youth.
I spent 18 years as a member of the Glen Cove School Board and feel I was very successful in moving our schools into the 21st century. Being involved in preparing the school budget, I know the importance of fiscal responsibility and will bring my knowledge of budgets to the city council.
I was always interested and involved in politics. I want to see Glen Cove continue to be a good place to raise children, live and work. Over the years I have seen many changes take place in Glen Cove and I would like to try and bring back the feelings that were there when we could walk downtown, shop, visit friends and enjoy being part of this great community.
Ms. Sucharski is running on the Republican, Independence and Conservative party lines.
