North Shore High School Viking Sports
The new season has begun and the Viking's boys' varsity soccer team has picked up where it left off last year by starting a new winning streak. After a successful scrimmage against Valley Stream North, the team opened the season with a solid 2-0 win over Great Neck South. Led by last year's leading scorer, Captain Robbie Grabher, who posted both goals, the team showed a fine defensive posture and All-County goalie Tucker Morgan showed why he earned that honor by repelling all efforts. Returning players Zach Venditto, Brandon Robilotti, Matt Kelly, Frank Galluzzo, Jon Pavlica, Keith Salerno, Chris Frey, Andy Lazarow (2 assists), Alex Lieberman-Cribbins, and Charlie Vasiento all contributed to the winning effort. This core of veterans is bolstered by rookies Chris Dellavecchia, Alex Bouganim, Jeff Breifel, Peter Filippi, Kyle Henry, Brian Leigh, Dan O'Connor, and Anthony Mendez-Cortes. Having proven its ability last season with an 8-3-3 winning record, the team earned the honor to move up a division. They have set their goals high this year and want to make the playoffs for the first time in quite a few years. Along the way, a conference championship would be nice. With so many returning players, the team's confidence is high. Early indications are positive and the team has shown Coach Hintz a desire to work hard and continually improve. With all this going for them, it would seem clear that good things lie in the near future for Vikings Soccer.
