  • News: Glen Cove Joins Nassau County in Establishing Swift911 Emergency Notification System

    On August 28, Mayor Ralph V. Suozzi signed a contract with SwiftReach Networks, Inc. of Mahwah, NJ (www.swiftreach.com) to implement their Swift911 Emergency Notification Service, which is a reverse 911-type system with the capability to contact and notify all Glen Cove residents in the event of an emergency. It will also be used to notify residents, as appropriate, for non-emergency activities or events throughout the city. FULL STORY

  • News: Pets and Owners Can Breathe Easy

    Glen Cove EMS had guests at its station on Friday, Aug. 24, including a couple of canines. Mayor Ralph V. Suozzi welcomed the pups, as well as Dr. Mara DiGrazia, DVM and Nancy Buckler of H.E.L.P Animals, Inc. Representatives of Glen Cove EMS and Explorer Post 1072 (the next generation of volunteers) and Ruth DiChiara and Ellie D'Amico, co-founders of the Glen Cove Animal Lovers League, were all part of the welcome wagon.   • Sports: North Shore 8-U Vikings win the Glen Cove Mayors Trophy Championship

    The 8-year-old North Shore Viking baseball team won its first ever tournament title in its inaugural season. The Vikings are led by solid pitching, clutch hitting and a superb, tight defense which yielded less than 10 runs in the whole tournament. The 8-U North Shore team burst onto the baseball scene rather auspiciously by defeating Plainedge in the semi-finals and Plainview in the championship game. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Glen Cove Cardinals Are LI Connie Mack Champions

    The Glen Cove Cardinals 14U returned from their NABF Championship in Ohio to take on two powerful opponents in their bid for the LI Connie Mack Sandy Koufax Division Championship. The Cards took on the LI Sound in the semifinals and came out on top, winning the first game 13-3 with home runs by Mike Iannetta and Pat Toher before losing game 2 by a score of 7-4 despite a 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs effort by Tom Montefusco and two doubles by James Cohan.
