Stella Fanning, of Glen Cove, died on Aug. 4, 2007. Wife of the late Terence. Mother of Carolyn Saraceni and Barbara (Joseph) Graziose. Sister of Betty Beutelman and the late Steve, Helen, Anna, Jane, Agnes and Edith. Grandmother of James, Joseph, Robin, Leeann, the late Robert and great- grandmother of Joseph, Vincent, Ashley, Nicholas, Francis, Kaitlyn, Lauren and Annalise. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Boniface RC Church. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Brookville.

Arlene Magaw, of Southold, died at San Simeon Nursing Home in Greenport on Aug. 6, 2007. She was 96 years old.

Miss Magaw was born in Brooklyn on Oct. 29, 1910 to Susan (nee Kouwenhoven) and Robert Magaw. She was a graduate of the Class of 1928 from Southside High School in Rockville Centre. She later attended Ithaca School of Music, Physical Education Division and the New York University School of Education.

In 1933, she received her bachelor of science degree from Skidmore College and in 1946 received her master of arts degree from NYU. She also attended Penn State College, Temple University and Hofstra University.

For 25 years, she was a physical education teacher at public schools in Pennsylvania and in Rockville Centre, Valley Stream, Roslyn and Garden City. The last 19 years were spent in the Locust Valley Central School District.

She was a supervisor of Southold School Board Elections and Budget Voting. Arlene also had an extensive volunteer record. For 20 years, she was a member of the American Red Cross Motor Corps and had also been chairman of the North Fork Volunteers of the American Red Cross, chairman of the Southold Town Blood Program and had been a volunteer at the Horton Point Lighthouse whose logo she designed. While a resident of Peterborough, NH, she volunteered at the main desk of the Peterborough Library.

For many years, Arlene lived in Rockville Centre and the Locust Valley-Bayville area. In 1966, she moved to Southold where she lived until 1985 when she moved to Peterborough. In 1992, she returned to Southold where she lived until entering San Simeon Nursing Home.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother Melford Kouwnehoven Magaw; and two sisters, Alice French Magaw and Marjorie Magaw.

Arrangements were made by the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home, Southold. Interment was in the family plot at the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.

Joseph E. Maiorca died peacefully on Aug. 9, 2007. Joseph was the husband of the late Vincenza Candela and father of Lydia Driscoll (Edward) of Haverford, PA, Lucille Morgan (Stephen) of New York City and Frank Maiorca of Sea Cliff. He was the grandfather of Daniel, Peter, Myles, Nicholas and Elizabeth. Born in 1920 in New York, NY, he was a 45-year resident of Garden City and Shelter Island. He served in the Army during WWII. He graduated from CCNY School of Business in 1948. He was a CPA and worked for Merrill Lynch for 26 years, serving as Controller, Treasurer/VP, and an allied member of the New York Stock Exchange. He was an avid ballroom dancer, a long-time boater, and a volunteer member of the Coast Guard. He loved hosting family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head, on Aug. 15. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Edward Maleszewski
Edward Maleszewski, of Glen Cove, died on Aug. 12, 2007. Husband of Phyllis (nee Lotito). Father of Edward (Ellen) Maleszewski and Nicole (Matthew) Reilly. Son of the late Ed and Jean Maleszewski and son-in-law of Ann and the late Charles Lotito. Grandfather of Edward, III, Stephanie Ann and Jean Marie. Brother of Barbara (Butch) Grella and Diane (Ron) Crowe and brother-in-law of Joseph Lotito. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Rocco. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Dr. Ferdinand Kann, MD, formerly of Glen Cove, died on Aug. 14, 2007 at age 87. He was a longtime practicing physician for almost 50 years. Husband of Eleanor and the late Jeanne. Father of Fred, Jack, Wendy and Sharon. Grandfather of Michael, Tyler, Jordan, Jordan, Danielle, Julien, Jonah and Jane. Service was held at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Interment New Montefiore Cemetery. Mercedes Gloria Jara Soto Martinez, of Glen Cove, died on Aug. 15, 2007 at age 56. Wife of Fernando. Mother of Carmen "Luly" (Istenio), Cristian "Lulo" (Kelly) and Jose Miguel "Lulin." Daughter of Humberto. Grandmother of Matheus and Sebastian. Visitation at the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove. Mass held at St. Patrick RC Church and interment private. William C. Reimer Jr., life long resident of Greenvale, died on Aug. 15, 2007. Husband of Nancy and the late Angela. Father of William C. Reimer, III, Jean Ann Fattarusso, Kathleen De Sousa, Alison Scollan and Christopher Reimer. Grandfather of William C. IV, Emily, Vincent, Angela, Kelly, Christina, Katie, Cori, Erin, Timothy, Jacquelyn, Chris, Alexa and Sean. Brother of the late Peter Reimer. Also survived by a family in Belfast, Ireland. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral service held at the funeral home. Interment Long Island National Cemetery, Pinelawn. Joseph L. Basile Sr., of Glen Cove, died on Aug. 18, 2007. Husband of Annette. Father of Joseph (Denise), Bobby (Lisa), Sal (Lynn), Dennis (Linda) and Richard (Toni Ann). Brother of Frank, Patsy, Sal, Vinny and Teresa. Grandfather of 17. Great-grandfather of one. Nephew of Angelina Riola. Arrangements were made by the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Funeral Mass celebrated at the Church of St. Rocco. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery.
