Five players from the 8th grade CYO Championship Team were selected to play in the first CYO All-Star game under the lights at Merrick Road Park.

Courtney Casale, Shannon Ayers, Taylor Martinez, Ashley Gonzalez and Amanda Levy shined all through the game. The girls played on different teams, which is a great idea to have some all-star fun.

Casale, Ayers and Gonzalez were on the National League team; Martinez and Levy played for the America League and their coaches Paul Casale, Jimmy Ayers and Joey Martinez.

Levy pitched three strong innings, getting a hit. Ayers caught a great three innings, keeping runners from stealing. Casale had the game-winning hit and also added a triple. Martinez played a great infield with five assists and Gonzalez came on to shut down the American League. She also had a hit in a 13-11 win. It was a great night for both teams as the girls all received CYO softball shirts for participation. Certificates for softball camps were also raffled off.

Susan Thomas ran the girls softball program this season and did a tremendous job with an all-star game, softball camp drawings and always being there if something came up. St. Rocco's coaches and players would like to tip their hats to her and also thank Father Aaron for his great support of the girls softball team.
