Big Red's Aja Alter was honored as a 2007 2nd Team All-Long Island Softball Player by Newsday Sports. Aja has been playing varsity softball for five years, since she was in seventh grade, and has joined a very elite group of Long Island pitchers by recording 704 strikeouts in her career. Aja will be a senior at Glen Cove High School next year and has a chance to break the Nassau County strikeout record. Glen Cove High School and the entire community congratulates Aja on such a wonderful accomplishment.

Glen Cove's coach Jacquie Gow was pleased to recognize the phenomenal success of student Chris Garcia following his participation in the recent Physically Challenged Games at Mitchell Field. A smiling Ms. Gow proudly stated, "I have had the privilege of working with Chris Garcia every week at Finley Middle School in physical education and two weeks ago we went to the Physically Challenged Games at Mitchell Field where Chris competed in both track and field events. His determination, hard work and desire paid off and he came away with one gold medal, three silver medals and two bronze medals. We both enjoyed the intense competition and just for fun, Chris climbed the 40-foot climbing wall! Chris certainly made me, his coach, and the entire Glen Cove School District very proud of him."
