NALC and The Force to Help Stamp Out Hunger
Saturday, May 12 is National Stamp Out Hunger Day, sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC). In anticipation and with gratitude, Mayor Ralph V. Suozzi presented a proclamation to the letter carriers who work in the Glen Cove Post Office, as well as to some special guests.

Resolutions Bring Repercussions at Glen Cove Council
The Glen Cove City Council meeting of Tuesday, May 8 began with the continuation of a public hearing to discuss amendments to the city's code of ordinances regarding wireless telecommunications facilities and telecommunications licenses and franchises. The public hearing was opened at the last city council meeting on April 24, where resident Dorothy Santos offered the most questions, comments and concerns. Mayor Suozzi told Ms. Santos that the proposed amendment changes would be posted on the city's website within days, and also in printed form at the Glen Cove Public Library and City Hall. He asked Ms. Santos to read the document and contact him with a list of her concerns. However, as of Tuesday night, said the mayor, he had not heard from Ms. Santos. As she was not at the meeting, and no other residents stood to speak, the mayor declared the public hearing remain open until the next city council meeting, at which time the council would hear from residents and vote on the proposed amendments.

North Shore High School Vikings Sports
The North Shore men's lacrosse team went 1-1 this week dropping a hard fought game to Cold Spring Harbor early in the week, but then bounced back to earn a victory over Clarke High School on Friday.

Glen Cove High School Big Red Sports
The Glen Cove High School boys lacrosse team took on Wheatley in a wild up and down game. Trailing 2-0, Stuart Turman would sandwich his two goals of the game around another Wheatley goal, making the score 3-2. Eric Tripp would tie things up with the first of his two goals before the end of the quarter.
