The North Shore varsity tennis team is off to an excellent start. The team posted two wins on Wednesday and Friday against Oyster Bay and Plainedge with scores of 5-2 and 6-1 respectively. Leading the way for the Vikings this year are seniors Eli Berger, Amir Noor, Kenny Mandel, and David Edesary.

Each senior has at least three years' starting experience. Berger, seventh grader Austin Davidow, and sophomore Dylan Talcott round out the singles lineup, while freshmen Cole Korponay and Christian Petroske lead the way at first doubles. The Vikings hope to continue their winning ways with three matches this week.

After an 11-0 victory over West Hempstead in the league opener, the softball team improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the league with a come-from-behind victory over Carle Place. The Vikings trailed 3-1 entering the bottom of the seventh, the only run scoring when Kaitlyn Silka drove in Amanda Magnuson in the fourth. Silka led off the seventh with a single and scored on a Liz Cottell hit, making the score 3-2. Kiki Palazzo then drove home Cottell with an RBI single to centerfield, tying the game at three each. With two outs, Palazzo stole second and scored when All-County catcher Kelly Henry singled to end the game. Cassandra Knox earned her fifth win of the season and Kaitlyn Silka was a perfect 3 for 3 on the day.

North Shore dropped their first contest of the year later in the week, falling to Island Trees 8-1. The team looks to get back to their winning ways with three road games and one home game this week. The home game is against Friends Academy at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The North Shore women's track and field team has compiled an undefeated record of 5-0. The record is based on weekly tri or quad meets against three or four schools from the conference. The team with the best record at the end of the season earns the distinction of Conference Champions. North Shore is well on its way.

On April 14, one day ahead of the nor'easter, the team traveled to Bayshore to compete in the Suffolk Coaches Invitational. There were several outstanding performances, led by freshman Brianna Welch who placed first in the 800 in a very tactical and strategic race. Other first place finishers were junior Taylor Shea in the 100m hurdles, and the 4x400 relay consisting of sophomore Lauren Pearsall, freshman Charlotte Manogue, freshman Jillian Fortunato, and Welch. Other medalists included junior Eva Schlomann in the hurdles, Manogue in the 800m, freshman Amanda DelGuardio in the 200m, and the 4x800 relay consisting of juniors Debbie Gilbert and Jen Dileo, and sophomores Marisa Dussel and Thea Lange. Personal bests were also achieved by Emily Ferrara and Amanda Treco. The next competition for North Shore girls track will be in Locust Valley this week.

The North Shore Vikings girl's lacrosse team has come together as the girls upped their record to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in Conference 1 over the weekend with wins against MacArthur and Port Washington. Earlier in the season, the Vikings topped Mineola and Massapequa. Leading in goals with 16 is junior attacker Devon Comito. Junior Kristin McCormack is a close second with 14 goals. The Vikings are led by seniors Catie DeStio (center), Nicole Papasergiou (defense), Justine Biel (defense), Kirsten Oertle (midfield) and Nicole Johansen (attack). Ashley Janelli, Nicole Papasergiou and Catie DeStio are stepping up for the Vikings on both defense and in the midfield. The versatility of this year's team only adds to its other strengths. The team's future opponents include Friends Academy, Plainedge and St. Anthony.
