The North Shore wrestling team ended its season with a remarkable run. There were 16 wrestlers who entered the qualifier (like the playoffs) and nine of them made All-Conference! Michael Treco, Paul Falione, Tom Boehm, Peter Griffiths, Joe Denovellis, Kevin Kosczen, Robert Grabher, Craig DeMeo, Eric Gruebel (first place) and Paul Wefer. Senior Thomas Boehm had an exiting match in which he battled back from a huge deficit. While he didn't win the match, the comeback was remarkable.

Next up was the Nassau County Championship. The top six wrestlers in each weight class earn All-County honors. Three North Shore wrestlers were one match away from earning those honors. Tom Boehm got to avenge his loss from the prior week, beating the opponent who had beat him in the qualifier. Robert Grabher had an exiting match beating the third seed in the last 10 seconds of the match to move on. Craig DeMeo had a tough first round opponent but pulled away with the victory 1-0. Eric Gruebel hit a move on his first opponent which is hardly seen in wrestling and then pinned him. Joe Denovellis had two tough victories, losing to the eventual champion. The season was probably the best the Vikings have had in 10 years. Even though wrestling is an individual sport, this group stuck together and won for each other and NSHS! The coaching staff is very proud of what all our athletes have accomplished this year. The North Shore wrestlers would like to thank the parents for their continuous support!
