GC Planning Board Deems Glen Isle PDEIS Inadequate
The Glen Cove Planning Board met for a work session prior to its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 6 to discuss the PDEIS (Preliminary Draft Environmental Impact Study) presented to the board by Glen Isle Developers, LLC for its proposal of the Glen Cove Creek Mixed-Use Waterfront Development. The PDEIS tome consists of two "extremely large volumes," according to a planning board spokesperson.

GC BOE Welcomes Delegation From China
There were a few new faces at the Glen Cove Board of Education meeting of Monday, Feb. 5. A delegation of four educators from China, visiting for the week, came to the meeting with a volunteer parent to translate, to see the process of the American, or at least the Glen Cove, school district and public in action.

Glen Cove High School Big Red Sports
In the last week of January, the Big Red wrestling team won in the Nassau Coaches Invitational Tournament (NIT). This is a dual match tournament made up of 18 teams from Nassau County Conferences 1 - 4.

North Shore High School Viking Sports
North Shore Vikings pulled off a season-sweep of the Glen Cove Big Red last Friday, beating them 51-37. Unlike their first game, this game was much closer and Glen Cove stayed in it until the very end. After leading 23-17 at the half, a late surge in the fourth quarter by North Shore made for the 14-point victory. The Vikings were led by junior Mike Lennon (12) and sophomore Chris Frey (10). North Shore still has a long way to go to make the playoffs, but no one can doubt that the Vikings play with pride and play to win.
