  • News: Remedial Reiteration for EPA on Waterfront History

    Glen Cove was host to a community meeting on Thursday, Oct. 26 for the purpose of discussing and explaining the history and cleanup efforts associated with the city's waterfront property. Representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Army Corps of Engineers, the Glen Cove Community and Industrial Development Agencies, and the Glen Cove city attorney's office were in attendance to address inquiries from the community. The panel included Cara Longworth, CDA director, as well as Rosemary Olsen and Rob Benrubi, former CDA directors, attorney Dan Deegan and Mayor Ralph Suozzi. FULL STORY

  • News: Grand Opening of Martone Plaza... Southern Gateway to Glen Cove Sports New Face

    The official ribbon cutting ceremony for Martone Plaza at the corner of Glen Cove and Sea Cliff Avenues in Glen Cove took place on Saturday, Oct. 21. Mayor Ralph V. Suozzi was manning the scissors, and with his cut the City of Glen Cove warmly welcomed its newest neighbors in its newest shopping center. FULL STORY

  • Sports: GC Jr. Football Celebrates Homecoming with Winning Ways

    On Sunday October 29, Glen Cove Jr. Football and Cheerleading celebrated Homecoming, with all six Glen Cove teams playing home games. Mayor Ralph V. Suozzi came by to present a plaque to the league declaring the day "Jr. Football and Cheerleading Day" in Glen Cove. Also at the ceremony were many alumni Cardinals who were given their start in football by the league. A special presentation was made to coach Bob Weimer and his staff from the 1997 Pee Wee team that brought Glen Cove its first NSFL Championship. Also on hand was alumni Cardinal Mike Peluso, who was a member of Glen Cove HS 1998 Nassau County Championship Team, and is now a coach in the league. FULL STORY

  • Sports: GC Jr. Soccer to Host Soccerfest 2006

    The Glen Cove Junior Soccer League will be holding its annual intramural soccer tournament on Saturday, Nov. 4 at John Maccarone Memorial Stadium. AvalonBay Communities, Inc. is sponsoring the event again this year. Soccerfest is being held on the last day of the season and it will be the icing on the cake of another great year! More than 80 games will be played by our teams, which include the newest budding stars in the Kindergarten League. Volunteers from Glen Cove HS DECA will be at the balloon and face painting tent and volunteer Girl Scouts will also be on hand to help in the refreshment stands and running score cards for the referees.
