Anthony Bellock, GCHS Class of 2006 and a former centerfielder for Glen Cove High School, recently competed in the second annual HIP Grand Slam Challenge at Citibank Park with more than 1,000 cheering fans in attendance. The Suffolk County All-Stars defeated the Nassau County All-Stars, 11-8, giving Suffolk two straight wins.

The two teams are comprised of some 36 players chosen by the sports staff of Newsday. All seniors in good academic standing, the players were previously selected to Newsday's All-Long Island Team and were outstanding contributors to their high school programs. The Grand Slam Challenge was sponsored by HIP Health Plan of New York, with proceeds benefiting the QuackerJack Foundation, the charitable arm of the Long Island Ducks.
