Swim Across America invites swimmers of all ages and levels of expertise to participate in the "Sound to the Cove Swim" hosted by the City of Glen Cove, on Saturday, August 19. Join over 170 motivated Long Islanders in your choice of a 1-mile, 5K, or the extreme 10K swim across the Long Island Sound. Whether you are a recreational, competitive, or master swimmer, you can help raise awareness in the battle against cancer.

Registration begins at 6 a.m. (5 a.m. for 10K swimmers). The City of Glen Cove is proud that every year the "Sound to the Cove Swim" returns to the waters along the shoreline of one of our city's most picturesque natural treasures, Morgan Memorial Park. Following the main event, swimmers celebrate their accomplishments with a brunch, an awards ceremony, and check presentations to beneficiaries.

Swim Across America is celebrating its 20th season of hosting open water and pool swims to fight cancer. To date, the organization has raised over $13.5 million towards cancer research and prevention. This year's swim will benefit various Long Island Cancer Research and Treatment Centers, including "The Miracle Pavilion" at Mercy Medical Center - the home of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the Childrens Hospital at Montifiore in the Bronx - which researches osteosarcoma, a pediatric bone caner, and the Sass Foundation's 12th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Days.

Glen Cove invites volunteers to assist in registration, brunch, and logistical support at the Awards Ceremony. Your generous contribution is deeply appreciated. Working together, as a community, we can make great strides in the fight against cancer.
