We wish to thank all of our wonderful friends, both old and new, who helped and guided us through these past difficult days of our daughter Cheryl's illness and death, in particular:

Her teachers with their infinite patience;

Her doctors, too numerous to mention individually, but special thanks to Drs. Ciancaglini and Milano for their extraordinary support;

The Glen Cove Hospital ER and ICU staffs who treated her with dignity and the 3 West psychiatric staff who, for awhile, were becoming her second family;

All her friends in ASU and the Auxiliary;

Dennis Connors, Director of Glen Cove Hospital, for his concern;

Father Aaron and Rev. Simpson for their prayers and compassion;

The Melillo Mental Health Center which counseled Cheryl, housed her, and supported Tom and me in so many ways, with special thanks to its director, Dr. Daniel Vogrin and Cheryl's therapist, Randie Taylor;

The Glen Cove Police Department, whose officers came to know Cheryl well and always handled her situations with respect and discretion;

Her good friend, Chris Tierney;

My co-workers at City Hall, especially those who have walked this path themselves;

Mayor Ralph Suozzi and Theresa Suozzi who reached out to us through their own grief;

Our long time neighbors and friends, the Byrnes family, who have shared these years with us, and our surrogate mother Ibbie, who's been there for me my whole life;

Our sisters, brothers, and relatives who all accepted Cheryl into the family so lovingly;

All our friends and this amazing community who are our "village" and have always been there for us, especially our dear friend, Bea, who waters the flowers, chauffeurs when needed, and guides us through the rough spots;

And, particularly, Cheryl's brothers David and Stephen and their families, and her wonderful sister, Laurie, who accepted her as she was and could always make her laugh.
