  • News: Intermunicipal Agreement Between County, Glen Cove, and Sea Cliff

    Nassau County Legislator Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove) announced that Nassau County has entered into a new intermunicipal agreement with the City of Glen Cove and the Village of Sea Cliff that would widen and improve the roadways in and around the intersection of Sea Cliff Avenue and Glen Cove Avenue in Glen Cove. The changes will address vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle safety issues. FULL STORY

  • News: Police Promotions Evoke Pride in Glen Cove Community

    Anyone who accidentally wandered into the Glen Cove City Council meeting of Tuesday, May 23 might have thought they were joining a family celebration, and they would not have been far from wrong. Children, teens, parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors, as well as numerous Glen Cove Police officers and a former mayor were gathered in a standing-room-only crowd to celebrate the announcement of the well-deserved promotions of three well-respected members of the Glen Cove Police Department. Current Lieutenant William Whitton, Sergeant John Mandato and Officer Christopher Ortiz were slated to very soon be known as deputy chief, lieutenant and sergeant, respectively. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Glen Cove C.A.R.E.S to Walk June 4

    Glen Cove C.A.R.E.S. will host its eighth annual "Walk Because We Care" on Sunday, June 4. The walk, which starts with registration at 8:30 a.m. at Glen Cove High School, is held to remind people to take care of themselves and their loved ones through prevention and early detection of cancer. Screening techniques for breast, colon, prostate and skin cancers help save lives. Whether you are walking in memory of a loved one or in support of a cancer survivor, join friends and neighbors on June 4. Funds raised through participation fees ($20 for adults, $15 for students ages 13-18; and $10 for students ages 5-12) are used for educational seminars, bone marrow donor screenings, support groups and cancer research.   • Sports: NY Yankees Attend GCJB&S Managers and Coaches Dinner

    The 2006 Glen Cove Jr. Baseball and Softball Managers and Coaches First Pitch Dinner was recently held at the Knights of Columbus hall in Glen Cove. Guest speakers were Roy White, who played and coached for the NY Yankees for more than 30 years and Ray Negron, special assistant to George Steinbrenner for the past 25 years. FULL STORY
