Following the conclusion of the public hearing to consider imposing a temporary moratorium on residential subdivisions within the City of Glen Cove at the city council meeting of Feb. 28, Mayor Ralph Suozzi and the council turned to routine business.

As perhaps a sign that spring is just around the corner, a resolution was passed to amend fees at the Glen Cove Municipal Golf Course. Across the board, $10 has been added to all fees. Mayor Suozzi cited increased expenses, most notably oil, as the reason for the increase.

In a related resolution, the mayor and council voted to renew the contract of Howard Robertson as director of golf and the Glen Cove golf professional at the city golf course for a term ending December 2006. When the vote was taken, Mayor Suozzi remarked that "Howie is a great asset to the city" and thanked him for "running a great ship." Councilman Mike Norman called the golf course "the jewel of Glen Cove," adding that it was "thanks to Howie."

The next meeting of the Glen Cove City Council will be Tuesday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the main chambers of city hall.
