As a lifelong Glen Cove resident, I support the proposed six-month moratorium on development. For too many years we have been subjected to rubber-stamped approval of building and subdivisions that have changed the city into something more like an urban area rather than the North Shore community we have come to love.

With talk of a 16-story waterfront building, it was good to see an open forum at the last city council meeting that smoked out the big developers and their high-priced attorneys. These people have become used to backroom deals without public discussion or debate. I think what scared them most, however, is that they now see there may be a moratorium on them being able to shove their deals down our throats before we had a chance to even open our mouths.
