Glen Cove High School Senior Elizabeth Goldson has been honored with a full scholarship to the University of Florida, thanks in part to her swimming talents.

In addition to holding down and maintaining a rigorous course load, Elizabeth dedicates many hours to perfecting her aquatic skills. This season, Elizabeth represented her school district at the New York State Girls High School Swimming Championships, where she was the defending New York State champion in both the 200- yard and 500-yard freestyle. Elizabeth was named All-American in both events in 2004 and 2005. She has already made the Olympic cut time for the US Team, which grants her the opportunity to swim in a meet two months prior to the Beijing Summer Olympic Games, from which judges will select the top two places for the Olympic team for that event. Elizabeth is also ranked nationally and holds a world rank in many of her events, which include the 200-meter, 400-meter, and long-distance freestyle events.

The district would like to congratulate Elizabeth on all of her accomplishments and wishes her well at the University of Florida and during the Olympic tryouts.
