In view of the recent series of articles in Newsday regarding Long Island fire departments, Glen Covers should be thankful for our fully volunteer Glen Cove Fire Department. These volunteers are always ready to respond, at a moment's notice, to fire alarms or any other emergencies. Unlike some other communities, our firefighters do not have luxuries such as fitness rooms, pools, etc. Nor do we, as residents, have to pay taxes for a paid department

The next time the Glen Cove Fire Department sends out its annual appeal, let's not forget all that they do!
