The North Shore boys cross-country team finished the 2005 season at the County Championship Meet at Bethpage State Park on Saturday, Nov. 5. The team placed first in their state classification class. David Freiman led the team running with 18:49. David is the first alternate for the Section 8 team that will run at the State Championship meet. Close behind David were Glen Gerbush and Jake Tobol at 19:23 and 19:45. Chris Krieb, back from being out from illness, ran a 20:02. The unseasonably warm day took its toll on all the runners that day.
Also in the top six for North Shore were Luke Hoffman and Nick Breen. The team, largely made up of freshmen and sophomores, is looking forward to another successful season next year.

The varsity volleyball team finished its season with a heart-wrenching loss to Cold Spring Harbor in the Nassau County "B" Classification Tournament Championship match. The match was played in front of 300 fans at C.W. Post College on Nov. 9. The Vikings played tough against a much taller and more experienced squad. The match went to a deciding fifth game. After falling behind 17-12, NS rallied back to tie the score at 21 behind the serving of team co-captain Melanie Guardino. Unfortunately, the team fell behind at 24-23 and in a lengthy rally fell short 25-23.
Coach Kamen said, "I would like to express sincere thanks to all the members of the team for an incredible and fulfilling season. I would also like to thank the parents and families who supported us throughout the year. Special thanks go to my three captains, seniors Lauren Ko, Melanie Guardino and Suzanne Long, all of whom won county awards this season. Two other seniors played major roles during the season, Elizabeth Muscarella and Carly Langer. Juniors Amanda Magnuson and Kerry Heimer were important pieces to our puzzle. Sophomores Kristin McCormack, Allison O'Connell and Cassandra Knox all grew tremendously this year in terms of experience and skill. We are looking ahead to next year already, with our returning players eager to get back to the county playoffs."

The North Shore High School football team finished its season this weekend with a 22-8 victory over Hampton Bays. Chris Palliser opened the game with an 18-yard touchdown reception from Ronnie Irving. Zach Tayne scored next when he busted his way up the middle for a 64-yard touchdown. Irving threw another touchdown in the third quarter, this time to Pat Chaputian who made an NFL-style catch keeping both feet in bounds for the score. Kicker Taylor McGrath also kicked 2 extra points. The Vikings defense scored a safety when they pinned the Baymen deep into their own zone and forced them to punt from their own end zone. Feeling the pressure, the punter stepped out of bounds. Ronnie Irving finished the day with 103 yards passing and 57 yards on the ground.
This season marks the first time in 11 years that the Vikings have made the playoffs, where they lost a tough-fought contest to Cold Spring Harbor. The Vikings finished with their third straight winning season, with 5 wins and 4 losses. Congratulations go out to Vinnie Tesoriero who was selected to the All-County Team, to Ronnie Irving who was named All-County Honorable Mention and to Chris Palliser, selected to the All-Conference Team.
