Glen Cove Boxing Academy Opens Its Doors
At Island Fitness in Glen Cove there is a new sound that resonates from the back room. Gloves beat against pads and coaches yell out commands. Some gym members look into the room, watching as youth train in the ring, or with the three punching bags and the one speed bag. In the back a sign reads "The Glen Cove Boxing Academy," and the three founders and coaches stand waiting to welcome any young newcomer with interest.

Vandalism Discussed at Sea Cliff Village Board Meeting
Before beginning the Sea Cliff Village Board meeting of Monday, Aug. 8, Mayor Eileen Krieb acknowledged the passing of Henry Hollman and shared the words she read at his memorial service this past Sunday. Mr. Hollman was the first village administrator and Mayor Krieb praised his work in keeping Sea Cliff the small and special community that it is. A moment of silence was held for Mr. Hollman.

Peter Speranza 5K Race Is Sept. 3
The annual SCO Family of Services Peter Speranza 5K Run to Help the Children will be held Saturday, Sept. 3. This annual 5K race, which winds through the scenic Victorian streets of Sea Cliff, benefits the developmentally disabled and physically challenged children who live at St. Christopher's Home on the Sea Cliff campus of SCO Family of Services.

Mayor's Snapper Derby is Aug. 20
The annual Glen Cove Mayor's Snapper Derby at the Pryibil Beach fishing pier is the morning of Saturday, Aug. 20, rain or shine. Young residents of Glen Cove ages 6 through 16 should grab the required rod and reel for great fishing and wonderful prizes.
