Return Engagement for Tortorici as GC BOE President
The Glen Cove Board of Education reorganizational meeting of July 11 was the first meeting in a very long time with a full board, as Fred Moore was sworn in as the newest board member. It was also the first official meeting for Dr. Larry Aronstein, newly appointed superintendent of schools, Dr. Shari Camhi, new assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and technology.

Billy Melillo Named MVP in 2005 Vytra Grand Slam Challenge
Billy Melillo, a pitcher for North Shore High School, struck out one, allowed only two runs and earned the Most Valuable Player award during his pitching stint for Nassau County in their ultimate 15-16 loss to Suffolk County at the recent Vytra Grand Slam Challenge, which featured an offensive display of 34 hits between the teams.

Dive into the 16th Annual Swim-A-Cross for the Red Cross
The American Red Cross in Nassau County (ARC/Nassau) encourages swimmers 12 years of age and older to join in its 16th Annual Swim-A-Cross on Friday, August 19, at Centre Island Beach in Bayville. The Swim-A-Cross is a one-mile swim across Oyster Bay Harbor. All proceeds will benefit local ARC/Nassau services, including disaster relief and lifesaving programs in health and safety.
