Sports enthusiasts of all ages and sport affiliations joined Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp and members of the Glen Cove City Council last week to flip the switch of the new lights at John Maccarone Memorial Stadium. Mayor Holzkamp said, "With the completion of the new lighting project under the direction of Glen Cove Parks and Recreation Director Darcy Belyea, the stadium's upper baseball fields 5 through 8 were rendered available for night games. John Maccarone Memorial Stadium is now a state-of-the-art facility for all city recreational sports-junior baseball/softball, junior lacrosse, junior soccer, junior football/cheerleading, men's softball, men's soccer, senior softball and Mayor's Trophy tournaments." On behalf of all Glen Cove residents, Mayor Holzkamp expressed appreciation for the hard work and cooperation of numerous individuals and organizations to make the lighting project a reality.

Special thanks for effort and enthusiasm went to City of Glen Cove personnel Joseph Famillette, Chris Montello, Sam Robinson, James Ayers, David Cruz, Gary Rivera, Phil Russo, Brian Shane, Nick Pietrofere, Gary Puetzer, John McKenna, James Ziegen and Curtis Stamps. Mayor Holzkamp also expressed appreciation to Kevin Monahan, the City of Glen Cove Heavy Construction Coordinator and to Sal, Sr., Michael, Billy and Chris Paolillo for their commitment to the project. The Glen Cove Junior Baseball/Softball League was lauded by Mayor Holzkamp for bringing the proposal to the City of Glen Cove and ensuring that the project is at no cost to the taxpayers.
