Det. Sgt. Tom Fitzpatrick of the Glen Cove Police Department has reported that in the early hours (3:45 a.m.) of Sunday morning, June 12, two men were stabbed multiple times in front of 7-Eleven in Orchard Plaza on Glen St. Despite suffering from life-threatening injuries, the two men managed to get into one car and drive to their homes in Oyster Bay, where at least one of the men soon passed out from blood loss. Nassau Police were called and the two, one 24 years old, the other 30, were taken to two hospitals where they underwent major surgery to repair their wounds. When it was determined later that morning that the assault actually took place in Glen Cove, Detective Moretto was assigned to the case.

According to the police report, shortly before the stabbing occurred the two victims had left Seven Mares in Orchard Plaza, formerly Mikonos Diner, where they confronted another man who had been asked by staff to leave the establishment. Said Sgt. Fitzpatrick, "The two victims followed the lone man to the area in front of 7-Eleven, about 75 yards away, and that is when a group of about five other men joined the lone man and began their assault of the two, stabbing them each multiple times before fleeing the scene."

The sergeant reported that both men have since been released from the hospital and are recovering at home in Oyster Bay. There have been no arrests in the case as of this writing although the investigation is continuing.
