Glenwood Landing and Glen Head residents assembled at 8:45 a.m. on Memorial Day to both watch and take part in the annual parade, hosted by the American Legion Post #336 and the Glenwood Landing Fire Department.

Glen Cove High School Big Red Sports
Glen Cove's Boys track team had a very successful season. For the first time in Glen Cove track history, the boys' team finished the year with a winning record of 10-4. The team was led by a great group of seniors and supporting cast of freshman and sophomores.

North Shore High School Viking Sports
This past week three of North Shore's finest athletes competed in the Nassau County State Qualifier meet at Mitchell Park and Farmingdale High School. Seniors Johnny Chang and Matt Freiman competed in the long jump and 110 high hurdles, respectively. While giving it his best effort on a cold, wet and windy day, Matt came up short of making the cut for the big state meet by only several inches. In fact, his time was the same as the winner, but the athlete from Manhasset got to the line just inches ahead of Matt. While Johnny also missed the cut for the state meet, a special word of recognition is in order for this exceptional young athlete. Johnny is proficient in the martial arts and brought his knowledge and dedication for training and sports to every practice and competition. Both these young men have ended their high school careers on a very honorable note. As Matt goes to Lehigh and Johnny heads off to NYIT, their coaches and teammates bid them the best of luck.
