Coach Adrienne Tonner

The Girls varsity track team completed one of their best seasons ever.

With several girls qualifying for the county meet, it was the culmination of a lot of hard work. This year's team was heavy on underclassmen, with only three seniors and seven juniors. The remaining 20 girls were ninth and tenth graders. There were many outstanding 'rising stars' on the team, girls who have truly found their niche in track and field. Ninth grader and team captain Danielle Silas continued to astound with her skills, success and determination. She finished fourth in the county in the intermediate hurdles and seventh in the county in the high hurdles. Other rising stars were Vannia Cordova, Nicole Cunniff, Tamara Pajovic, Loreley Gomez, Melody Howard, Reena Walia, Anne Brady, and Kristina Garcia. Returning tenth graders are: Rebecca Aguilera, Julie Gallucio, Jessica Lechtenberg, Erica Lottes, Paulina Majka, Maddalena Salamone, Rebecca Salentino, and Alyssa Oh. The only rookie tenth grader is Kenashia Douglas. Much of the strength of the team came from third year juniors Megan Avram, Stephanie Herbert, and Daniela Noviello, Stephanie Dileo, Sara Dejesus and Kaitlin Moretto.

Unfortunately Alyssa Rodriquez was injured for most of the season. We look forward to her return next year. Last but not least, the seniors: Super duper Captain Angelina Dattolo did wonders on the high hurdles. Shanay Wilcox was our senior leader of field events and newcomer Anastaysia Chybireva had terrific stamina and ran the distance races.

Coach Adrienne Tonner said, "This team will best be remembered for their stamina and hard work, their sense of humor and their ability to always give 100 percent. As coach of the team my greatest wish is that all the ninth, tenth and eleventh graders return next spring for the best season ever!"
