Board of Ed Continues Budget Talks
While the Glen Cove Board of Education still does not have an exact figure for the upcoming 2005-2006 budget, budget meetings and presentations are being offered to the community on pretty much a weekly basis these days at public board meetings. Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jerry Cicchelli stated that the proposed budget figure should be ready next week.

Remembering Burt Zatlin, One of a Kind
On February 18, Glen Cove lost a true native son. Burton Zatlin died at the age of 82, leaving his adored and adoring wife of 58 years, Elinor, two beloved sons, Stuart and David, and three cherished grandchildren, Jason, Yarden and Ari. He also left Burt Singer, a cousin whom many thought was a brother, as the two Burts were closer than many brothers are, as well as nieces, nephews, numerous friends and assorted machetunim..

Glen Cove High School Big Red Sports
As February rolled around, it was time for the Glen Cove wresting team to prepare for the Nassau County Conference I Wrestling Tournament. To be eligible to compete, each wrestler had to place in the top four of his weight class in a qualifying tournament. The qualifying tournament had perennial powerhouse Massapequa as well as Island Trees, Syosset, Port Washington, Jericho and West Hempstead. Big Red was up to the challenge.

Play Old Time Base Ball With Glen Head Zig Zags
The Glen Head Zig Zags play competitive baseball at Old Bethpage Village Restoration using 1887 rules. Overhand pitching, stealing and no gloves characterize this unique baseball experience. Celebrating 10 years of Old Time Base Ball, the Zig Zags are looking for a few brave souls who miss swinging a wooden bat, turning a double play and stealing second. Since the age group is unrestricted, father-son tandems are welcome.
