Nassau Zone of The NYS Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance recently honored Glen Cove physical education teacher Angela Zupa as Elementary PE Teacher of the Year and Glen Cove students Kristine Mariana and Giuseppe Salamone as Outstanding Physical Education students from Glen Cove HS.

Kristine excels in a wide variety of activities. She is captain of the varsity cheering team and a four-year member of the softball team. She is a member of DECA, band and select chorus and has held lead roles in a number of theatrical productions. Kristine participates in teen court and has won numerous awards and honors for her extensive school involvement.

Joe excels in physical education and is a member of National Honor Society, DECA and ski club. He participates in teen court and has volunteered at Glen Cove City Stadium and the CYO. Joe is a four-year member of the soccer team, a two-year member of the basketball team and a three-year member of both the winter and spring track teams. He has often been recognized for his outstanding high school accomplishments.

Ms. Zupa was profiled in last week's Record Pilot.
