This season's boys soccer team has brought with it a positive attitude, along with a strong work ethic, as the players look forward to competing in the class "A" League V Conference. With 10 seniors returning for their final season, and 12 underclassmen looking to make a strong contribution to the success of this Viking team, it's already evident that the team has started to rebuild.

The team will be led by tri-captain seniors Sean Clampet, Ian Grabill and Zachary Travis. Seniors on the team include Mike DiLeo, Mike Frey, Chris Henry, Mike Marrone, Chris Reich, Joshua Smith and David Soldano. Underclassmen juniors are Steve Gelberg, Eric Gomes, Robert Grella, Ian Lynch, Nick Pappas, Santiago Ramirez, Peter Treiber and Joe Valasiadis. Sophomores are Elias Berger and Michael Diamond and freshmen are Taylor McGrath and Tucker Morgan.

The first league game will take place at North Shore H.S. on Monday, Sept. 20 against Levittown. Please come out and support the team!

The 2004 field hockey season promises to be successful for the North Shore Vikings. The team started a great season with a lot of hard work and skill this preseason. Senior captains Adrienne Koslow and Ashley Lopez lead the team with skill, talent, and teamwork. The Vikings are returning six starters from last year and a group of upcoming stars that are sure to make the season exciting. The team competed in two scrimmages and a tournament this past week and look forward to their first home game on Tuesday against Garden City. Come and show your support.

Captains Cori Gasser, Kathleen Mulvey and Catina Sementini are joined by returning varsity players Lauren Ko and Melanie Guardino. The new talent on the team includes Emily Gonthier, Sue Long, Carly Langer, Amanda Magnuson, Diana Hazan, Liz Muscarello and Christina Mariakakis.

This year the team will be in a new league. They moved up in ability grouping and classification. This, however, has not dampened their hopes for making the playoffs.

The 2004 North Shore Vikings football team is ready to kickoff its season on Saturday, September 18 against the Malverne Mules at 2 p.m. on at the North Shore Stadium Field. This year the Vikings are led by third year head coach Dan Agovino joined by his veteran staff Frank Rossi and Craig DeNicola. Joining the staff is JV head coach Barney DellAquilla, assisted by Dan Royle and Rob Casale.

The Vikings roster is filled with experience, as third year quarterback and captain Will Kunkel will take the reins of a powerful offense. Captain Adam Volpe will lead the offensive line and Captain Mike Ragusa will lead the way for the running backs. The coaching staff will be expecting Kunkel to connect with wide receivers P.J. Como, Yusef Bravo, Pat Cunningham, Vinnie Tesoriero, Matt Brancaccio and Tim Francis. Volpe is the center on the offensive line. He is flanked by Carlos Rianos and D.J. Johanson on one side and James Lennon and Harlan Borer on the other. Tyler Convey, Ryan McDonough, John Ciampi and Dominic Zangari will also see a lot of playing time on the line. In the backfield with Ragusa is Chris Palliser, Zach Tayne, Brian Stern, Matt Kaplon, Matt Schmiemann, and Johnny Chang. Tom Lucchese and Dan Scarola will also be taking snaps from center at the quarterback position.

The Vikings tough defense will be led by defensive ends Kurt Martino and James Lennon. Brian Doherty, Jeremy Van Der Heiden and Dom Smorto will also protect the end zone at defensive end for the team. Eddie Maisch and Mike Ferrara will be tough to move up front on the defensive line. Doing the kicking duties for the Vikings will be Billy Bowe and Dan Carleton. Join us for our opening game on Saturday!

This year's varsity tennis team is looking to improve on last year's 2-10 campaign. Returning starters Amanda Magli, Meg McCormack and Leslie George will play singles for the team. All of the double teams aren't set. However, Melisa Gaudesi and Ali Procaccini will play first doubles. Diana Capasso, Leigh Ann Carter, Amanda Horowitz, Nikki Moshell, Kristen Reynolds, and Lauren Ross fill out the doubles roster. The girls have been conditioning and hitting a lot of tennis balls to get ready for the upcoming season. The team participated in the John Paolillo Run for Heroes this past Saturday. This team is coming together and excited about the new season. They will open up away at Wheatley on Monday, September 20. The first home match is Wednesday, September 22 against Great Neck North.
