Shiela G. Bien passed away on Aug. 14, 2004 She formerly lived in Upper Brookville before moving to Las Vegas in 1998. She worked for 19 years at the Glen Cove Golf Course Pro Shop for Mal Galletta Jr. She is survived by her son Joey of Naples, FL; a brother, Arthur of North Carolina and her brother, Mack Seitman (Kim) of California. Any memorial gifts can be made in her name to: Hospice House, 10 Barnet Segal Ln. Monterrey, CA 93940.

Vincent "Scotty" Purcell, of Glen Cove, died on Aug. 31, 2004. Husband of Eileen. Father of Nora (Gregg) Lesmeister, Vincent and Sandra (Joseph) Livoti. Grandfather of Stephanie, Matthew, Ashley, Joseph and Daniel. Brother of Lillian, Irene and Harry. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's RC Church. Interment VA National Cemetery, Calverton.

Maurice J. "Mo" O'Brien, of Glen Cove and Delray Beach, FL, died on Sept. 1, 2004. A life member of Disabled American Veterans, he served as a sergeant in the US Marine Corp in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a third generation of four generations of police officers and served 36 years in the Glen Cove Police Dept., retiring in 1986 as commanding officer. He was a graduate of the FBI National Academy 92nd Session and a life member of the Glen Cove Elks. He was a member of the Globe and Anchor Detachment of Marine Corp League and a member of Nassau County Municipal Chief Association.

Husband of Helene M. and the late Anna May (nee Wurzburg). Father of Maurice J. O'Brien Jr. (Lorraine) and Bernadette Miller (Fred). Brother of the late James (Mildred) and the late Mary Elizabeth Winslow. Grandfather of Christopher, Colleen, Timothy and the late Sean. Great-grandfather of Brandon. Stepfather of Helena Flahive and Anthony Grabowski. Arrangements were made by the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Patrick. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Brookville. In lieu of flowers, donations to All Saints Regional Catholic Schoo. Glen Cove, or Good Shepherd Hospice, Carle Place, are appreciated.

Barbara Ann Soffe, of Glen Cove, died on Sept. 3, 2004. Wife of Victor. Mother of Brenda (Mark) Wilson, Joyce, William and Thomas Soffe. Sister of Patricia Rant and Jean Zembruski. Grandmother of Brittany, Thomas, Paul, Emma and Gordon. Sister-in-law of Rose, Alfred, Emerson, Arthur, Katherine, Lillian, Rita, Linda, Harriet, Elsie and Helen. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Boniface Church. Interment East Hillside Cemetery.

Anthony Cangero, of Glen Cove, died on September 7,2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. If you didn't know him as a City of Glen Cove code enforcer, you knew him as a soccer enthusiast extraordinaire.

Mr. Cangero will be waked at the Marcus Bianconi Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 9 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral is Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Rocco.
