PFC Edwin R. Friskey was injured in Afghanistan on June 7, 2004. He was flown to Germany, Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and then to Tripler Hospital in Hawaii. He had a broken left heel and a shattered right ankle, stitches on his face and body. Ed was operated on in Tripler Hospital on June 22. While the operation went well, there is a possibility he may have another surgery on his right ankle due to the extensive damage he suffered. The doctors have said Ed should be walking within a year.

I want to thank family, friends and neighbors who stopped by to see Ed while he was at home for convalescent leave. A special thank you to Long Island Travel for getting my daughter and me tickets on such short notice, and to the doctors and nurses at Tripler Hospital, Dr. Peter Sordi, Northport Va., Richard and Robert Friedman, DDS, Dean Albanese, Jean Nassani, Lori Pagnillo and the Oyster Bay VFW.

This was a very traumatic experience for all of us and we would not have gotten through it without all of you. Thank you again.

Liz Kasyjanski and family
