Dr. Ole T. Jonassen, a surgeon in Glen Cove and a resident of Lattingtown Harbor for over 40 years, died on July 20, 2004 in Brooklyn at the age of 81. The cause of death was lung disease related to a hereditary disorder. Dr. Jonassen was born in Norway and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. He graduated with BA and MA degrees from Columbia University and its College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1947. During the Korean War, Dr. Jonassen served with the US Army as a captain assigned to a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) unit. He and his wife, Elizabeth, moved to Glen Cove in 1955, where he joined Dr. Charles W. Hayden in practice. Dr. Jonassen was a member of the Nassau Country Club and or Rotary International. He is survived by his daughters, Cara Bowers of Brooklyn and Amy Mesa-Jonassen, MD, of Pleasantville, NY; and by his sons-in-law and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Ekelund of Huntington Station. Elizabeth Jonassen died in January 2004. There will be a memorial gathering in Dr. Jonassen's honor at Nassau Country Club on Aug. 11 at 4 p.m.

Pedro Calderon, resident of Glen Cove for over 50 years, died at age 82. Brother of Catalina, Carmen Luz, Sixto, Eliesser, the late Georgina and Maria Lina Rubio. Anna Dooley Rannou, of Sea Cliff, died on July 29, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband Paul of 54 years and her granddaughter Leslie Anne.
