Glen Cove Schools Face Contingency Due to Budget Defeat
The Glen Cove school budget was defeated for a second time on June17 with a vote of 1589 against and 1225 in favor. Voters rejected a proposed budget increase of 4.67 percent and tax levy increase of 5.81 percent. This forces the district into a contingency budget with a cap of 2.817 percent budget to budget increase and 3.56 percent tax levy increase.

Altamont Residents Hopeful After SC Board Meeting
The Sea Cliff Village Board meeting this Monday began with tension but ended with approval and a sense of hope. The topic of the evening was the Public Works garage, but before lead architect Bob Labew presented the village's proposal, the board heard comments from residents.

Big Red Softball Ends With Seven County Awards
The season ended for the Glen Cove softball team when it lost its quarter final game against the number one seed, MacArthur High School, in extra innings 4-3. The team finished in second place in Conference 1B and was awarded seven Nassau County Girls Softball Coaches Association Awards.

Robertson to Play 200 Holes for Berry
Do you remember July 22, 2003? First the oppressive heat, then the torrential rainstorm that followed? Probably not. However, Howie Robertson, Glen Cove Golf Club's golf pro sure does. That was the day he was out on the golf course playing "100 Holes of Golf for Noah," one of many community-wide fundraising events slated to aid Deasy School second-grader Noah Berry, who is ill with neuroblastoma, a rare aggressive childhood cancer, and his family. Noah's mother is also fighting breast cancer.
