On Friday March 5 the high school gym reverberated with the clamor and applause of students, parents and community residents who came out to cheer on their favorite teachers battling to prove athletic prowess at Glen Cove's third annual Family Fun Night /Teacher Games. Sponsored by the high school PTSA, this year's event boasted participation of a record-breaking 88 teachers, representing all six district schools. While competition was fierce, players are more likely to remember the fun rather than the scores and students will definitely remember the fine examples of sportsmanship their teachers exhibited. Raffles, cotton candy and high school Principal Joe Hinton in costume added to the fun.
The PTSA would like to thank referees Patrick Lynch, Bob Panzenback, Mark Goldberg and Bob Rubin who called those close shots and kept the games going at an exciting pace. A thank you goes to parents who worked to make the event possible: Dan Cox, Dr. Cathy Screnci, Jenny Rubin, Nancy Cox, Gerri Orlando, Sue Goldberg, Lorri Prince, Marilyn Abrams, Lois Scanlon, Billy Kessel, Noretta Barnes, Toni Kessel and Marion Voegtlen. Sponsors who deserve a grand thank you are Valley Sports, Christina Mercurio, DDS, and David Losee Signs.
The PTSA applauds the dedicated teachers of the Glen Cove School District who each year donate time and school spirit to help raise money for the Glen Cove Scholarship Fund for deserving graduating seniors.
