GC Council Meeting Calm in Mother Nature's Storm
At the Glen Cove City Council meeting of Tuesday, April 13, Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp reminded residents that tax day, April 15, was right around the corner. She remarked that she was pleased Councilman Michael Norman, a CPA and financial advisor, was able to wrest himself from his desk in order to make the meeting.

Mayor Holzkamp First Recipient of Rich Creede Award
Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp will be the first recipient of the Glen Cove Beautification Commission's Richard J. Creede "Person of the Year" award. Ian R. Siegel, the commission's chairman, made the announcement recently as plans got under way for the commission's third annual Springtime Brunch to be held Sunday, April 25 at noon in the Harrison Conference Center. Mayor Holzkamp will receive the award during the festivities that day.

Glen Cove Teachers Come Out to Play Games
On Friday March 5 the high school gym reverberated with the clamor and applause of students, parents and community residents who came out to cheer on their favorite teachers battling to prove athletic prowess at Glen Cove's third annual Family Fun Night /Teacher Games. Sponsored by the high school PTSA, this year's event boasted participation of a record-breaking 88 teachers, representing all six district schools. While competition was fierce, players are more likely to remember the fun rather than the scores and students will definitely remember the fine examples of sportsmanship their teachers exhibited. Raffles, cotton candy and high school Principal Joe Hinton in costume added to the fun.

The men's team continues to build, with at least seven people scoring goals during an otherwise tough week the week before last, in which North Shore lost to Friends Academy, Sewanhaka and Manhasset.
