On page three of the Dec. 25 Record Pilot was an article about Joseph A. Carrano and his involvement as a soldier during the Korean War.

Joe and I became friends while both of us played senior softball on the Glen Cove Cobras for the Long Island Senior Softball Association. Joe pitched for us and the conversation before, during and after each game was about fast-pitch softball which we both played, with the guys we both knew and the good times had by all.

Joe was an excellent pitcher and played on some of the better teams and traveled all around the country pursuing his love of the game.

The point I'm trying to make is that I never knew about Joe's participation in the Korean War. Many guys never talk about it.

Thank you Record Pilot for showing another side of Joe, whom I'm happy to have as a friend.
