  • News: 50th Anniversary of Korean War Armistice Observed

    A major historical event took place on July 27, 2003 when more than 1,500 veterans from the US and around the world re-visited Korea to participate in ceremonies marking the 50th anniversary of the signing of the armistice ending the Korean War in 1953. In Seoul, dignitaries including South Korean President Moohyun Roh, U.S. military commander and four star General LaPorte, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and other high-ranking members of the Armed Forces were honored guests at the historical ceremonies, presentations, banquets and entertainment venues.   • News: It's Schechter vs. Lutheran on Long Island Challenge

    Teams of four contestants and one alternate from Solomon Schechter High School of Glen Cove and Long Island Lutheran High School of Brookville will face off in the first round of the seventh annual Long Island Challenge on Jan. 4, 2004. The competition, moderated by News 12 anchor Scott Feldman, will be shown exclusively on News 12 Long Island at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. and again the following Saturday, January 10, at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. FULL STORY

  • Sports: North Shore High School Varsity Sports

    The Vikings had an outstanding outing in the Glen Cove Quadrangle last week. Teams competing were Syosset, Cold Spring Harbor, Glen Cove and North Shore. The Vikings had an overall record of 24 wins and 6 losses, placing them in first place. Seniors Eddie Murray and Andrew Stern, juniors Dan Carleton and Matt Galati, sophomore Zack Ziskin and freshmen Tom Boehm and Brian Stern went undefeated for the day! Junior Matt Kaplon and sophomore Joe Valasiadis had exciting matches that came down to the wire. The team improves daily and is gearing up for the Glen Cove tournament on Dec. 30. FULL STORY
