Candidates for County Legislator, 18th District
Paul Annunziato is the Republican party candidate for legislator in the 18th District, a position currently held by Democrat Brian Muellers. Mr. Annunziato stresses that while he is a Republican, having been brought up with "strong Republican traits such as fiscal conservatism," he considers among his most effective qualities his independence and willingness to "buck" his own party. He said he comes to this race with no strings attached and indebted to no one.

GOPs and GCFD Meet the Press
Chief William Neice of the Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department, along with Republican mayoral candidate Jed Morey, city council candidates Ellen Savino, Grady Farnan, James Toner, Thomas Manzione, Reno DiScala and Michael McGuire, gathered the media last week for a press conference to address concerns of traffic and fire safety of the Glen Cove Fire Department. According to someone close to both organizations, the alliance was forged when firefighters appealed to the Republican party for help because the current administration is continuing to go ahead with plans to build a highway which department officials maintain will compromise the safety of the residents and first responders.

Glen Cove Big Red Sports
The Glen Cove girls volleyball team is 9-3 and having a wonderful season. The girls on the team have practiced hard to get and remain in first place. They have had a lot of tough competition playing teams such as Westbury, Carey, Sewanhaka, Roosevelt, and Great Neck North. All the games have been really close but with such great determination the girls have found their way to come out on top.

North Shore High School Varsity Sports
The Lady Vikings completed their season last week with a 1-6 loss to Great Neck South. Diana Capasso and Ali Procaccini were the lone victors. Although the team didn't win as many matches as they would have liked, and they finished the season with a 2-10 record, the team improved as the weeks progressed.
