    Moving its regular Monday night meeting to Tuesday in observance of Yom Kippur, the Sea Cliff Village Board of Trustees met October 8 to discuss a Halloween curfew, the annual Mini Mart, environmental protection, and beach repair. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Glen Cove High School Big Red Sports

    The Glen Cove JV football team improved its record to three wins, one loss this weekend with an impressive 34 - 8 win over Sewanhaka. This year's team is led by captains Joe Heffernan, Corey Land and Fred Purnell. All three boys have been excellent leaders on and off the field for the Big Red. Glen Cove opened the season with a strong win over Great Neck North 32 - 6. Next came a tough 19 - 0 loss to a strong Plainedge squad. The third game was a convincing 20 - 0 win over Roslyn in which the game officials remarked that the sportsmanship and discipline showed by the Glen Cove squad was as good as they had ever seen. And just this past Saturday, Glen Cove won at Sewanhaka against a solid opponent. FULL STORY

  • Sports: North Shore High School Varsity Sports

    The Vikings played three home games last week versus Mineola, Manhasset and Lynbrook. In the game against Mineola the team seemed to take a step backward in the first half and were down 4-0 at the break. Although they ended up on the losing end of the game, North Shore played a much more spirited second half and brought that same effort into their next game. In the final crossover game of the season they faced Manhasset and played a very confident game against this conference B-3 opponent. Robert Grella scored his second goal of the season unassisted to cut Manhasset's lead in half at 2-1. There were many chances to tie the game, but eventually the team fell 3-1 on a late goal by Manhasset. FULL STORY
