    Morey Criticizes Budget...and Leaves -- The city council meeting of Tuesday, Oct. 7 was fairly well attended, however, obvious in their absence were the GOP candidates for city council.   • News: Passive Park Dedicated to Vietnam Hero

    The sun had trouble coming out, but hearts and souls were warmed on Saturday, Oct. 4 as Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp, representing the City of Glen Cove, dedicated Dennis Brian Murray Park on Leech Circle to honor the memory of a young boy who spent many years playing in the area before growing into a young man who would give his life for his country in June of 1969 in a little village in Vietnam.   • Sports: Glen Cove High School Big Red Sports

    The Glen Cove Girls JV Tennis Team beat East Meadow in between raindrops last week. Co-captain Mariel Fredericksen won her singles match by a score of 8-5. Doubles partners Harleen Walia and Bonnie Nardone, Alyssa Oh and Jackie Szlakowicz, and Stephanie Zembis and Janice An won their doubles matches 8-0, 8-6, and 8-6 respectively, making this a close 4-3 win.   • Sports: Field Hockey Team Soars to 9-0 on the Season

    The Vikings remained undefeated last week, improving their record to 9-0. Team captains Callie Breen and Krista Hoffman have been helping the team work hard to maintain the winning streak. Last Tuesday, North Shore faced East Meadow for the second time this season and Breen scored within three minutes on a ball from Adrienne Koslow. The opponents came back strong but, thanks to Viking defenders Krista Hoffman, Blair Clancy, Samantha Treiber and six saves from goalie Danielle Uanino, East Meadow was scoreless. Catie DeStio scored twice in the last 15 minutes of the game to ensure the win. Both goals were amazing as she dodged the defenders along the way. FULL STORY
