The Fifth Battalion Volunteer Firefighters Softball League in association with News 12 Long Island are sponsoring a softball game on Saturday, Aug. 9, 7 p.m. at the John Maccarone Memorial Stadium in Glen Cove. Proceeds from this game between the Fifth Battalion All-Stars and News12 Long Island television personalities will benefit the St. Christopher-Ottilie GLAD program.

The GLAD (Great Living Alternatives for people with Down's Syndrome) is a new program at the St. Christopher-Ottilie facility in Sea Cliff.

The softball game is sure to be a fun, family event with raffles and giveaways. The Fifth Battalion will field players from the following fire departments and/or companies: Bayville, East Norwich, Glen Cove, Oyster Bay, Roslyn, Sea Cliff and Syosset. News 12 will have a team composed of reporters, anchors and crew...many of whom we all know from this local, 24-hour cable television news channel.
