Glen Cove Girls 12-under team are to be congratulated for winning the District 32 Williamsport Championship after playing four hard games against tough teams. The girls beat Hicksville (19-7), East Meadow (17-14), Bayville (14-5) and East Meadow (6-5).

To advance in Williamsport, good pitching, hitting and team unity made it fun. The top pitchers were: Kristen Cornelis with 2 wins and 19 strikeouts, Alexa DeMartino with 1 win and 10 strikeouts and Nicole Chiarella with 1 win and 7 strikeouts. Leading in RBIs were Tiffany McCauley with 8 and Kelly Harrison with 7. Top fielder Ashley Casale had 10 assists and 4 putouts. Runs Scored: Erica Miller and Nicole Chiarella, 8 each. Top hitters: Kristen Cornelis, .600, 6 hits; Alexa DeMartino, .545, 6 hits and Tiffany McCauley, .500, with 7 hits.

The outfield of Kacie Bogan, Erica Miller, Jasmin Cruz, Alisa Flores, Ashley Slaght, Nicole Chiarella and infield of Christine Antoniotti, Victoria Garcia, Kelly Harrison, Ashley Casale and Tiffany McCauley, supported the team defensively.

All players played hard in this great victory. The team advanced to play Oceanside whom they beat before losing to Riverhead. Manager Paul Casale said, "This team has gotten better as the season progressed. It will be a bright future for these stars. Coaches Jerry Cornelis, Tony DeMartino, John McCauley and Gina DeMartino agreed and can't wait.
