Cappiello Rockies Win Intermediate Girls Championship
To get the big game the Rockies had to beat the Reds and that is just what they did in dramatic fashion 10-9, scoring four runs with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Nicole Antoniotti pitched four strong innings allowing only six runs, striking out a season high 10 batters, with batters getting only two hits. Kimmy Marte pitched the final three allowing only three runs with six strikeouts and four hits. The hitting star was Courtney Casale who went 3 for 4 with four RBIs including the game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning. Then it was on to the Marlins.

Dr. Whalen Bends the Wire
Dr. Dorothy Whalen of Oyster Bay who has her practice in Glen Cove participated in and won in her age group the 7th Annual Long Island Gold Coast Triathlon & Relay in Port Washington. The Triathlon consisted of a 1/2 mile swim, a 12 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run.
