Music Staff Causes Discord at GC Board of Ed
At the outset of the Glen Cove Board of Education meeting of Monday, May 19, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mary Ellen Freeley presented Connolly School teacher Betty Eccles with the Teacher of the Month Award. With a warm smile, Ms. Eccles remarked that she is truly blessed to have a job she loves to come to every morning. She complimented the Connolly staff for its dedication to the students, which results in "bringing out the best, the positive in each child."

Municipalities Drive for Pedestrian Safety
Glen Cove Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp, Sea Cliff Mayor Eileen Krieb and Nassau County are launching a project that will improve pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular safety on Glen Cove Avenue. The project area is along Glen Cove Avenue from the intersection at Valentine/Glen Avenues to the intersection at Sea Cliff Avenue. Glen Cove Avenue is a Nassau County road that traverses Sea Cliff and Glen Cove. Pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles must share and negotiate this challenging road.

The Vikings brought home the Division championship last week, winning by the huge margin of 90 points just one week after winning the Conference championship based on their regular season record of 14-0.

Glen Cove High School Big Red Sports
The Glen Cove boys' varsity lacrosse team finished the week with two big victories. The first was over the Wheatley Wildcats,13-5, and the second over the Sewanhaka Indians, 20-5. The wins move the Big Red to 8-5 on the season and 7-4 in the league.
