Sam Gordon and Rob Ross also won at first doubles.
The Vikings came back with a 5-2 win against Port Washington at midweek, with Pat Friscia coming back strong after a two-week layoff due to injury. The first victory of the week was 2-1 in 10 innings over Floral Park. North Shore trailed 1-0 entering the sixth inning and tied the game at one when Meredith Vogenberger singled home Christina DeSousa. In the 10th inning, after Sierra Neal's sacrifice bunt moved Christie Swiezbin to third base with one out, DeSousa singled home the winning run with a base hit to right field. Kim Lerch pitched all 10 innings and struck out 10 batters in picking up the win.
The week's second game pitted the North Shore Vikings against the Seaford Vikings. North Shore took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Neal singled home DeSousa and Lerch with two outs. North Shore took a 3-0 lead on another clutch two-out hit, this time by Lerch, who knocked home Cori Gasser. That was all the support Lerch would need as she pitched in dominating fashion, allowing only one hit while striking out 12. The 3-0 win was Lerch's 13th of the season. It was also her fifth shutout and third one-hitter.
The victory over Seaford was the last regular-season home game for seniors Lerch, Vogenberger, Cara DiSanti and Justine Fairclough. Their talents and leadership, which have been instrumental in the success of the team this season, will be missed by the players and coaches.
