City Council Vote Paves the Way for Road to Waterfront
The first item to be voted on at the Glen Cove City Council meeting of Oct. 22 was a resolution approving the Glen Cove Road Extension final project design, the road that will link the downtown directly with the waterfront. This project has been a long and difficult road for the city and the Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department to walk and the two departments still stand on opposite sides of the street.

Glen Cove High School Big Red Sports
The Glen Cove Varsity football team played valiantly Saturday, losing to last year's LI champions Wantagh High School 21-0. The score is not indicative of the game as the Big Red outgained the Warriors 217 yards to 201. Glen Cove was inside the Wantagh 20 yard line four times and at the one yard line twice. Unfortunately, inexperience, bad breaks and a tough Wantagh defense kept the Covers out of the end zone.
North Shore High School Vikings Sports
The Lady Vikings faced their toughest opponent of the year last week - No. 1 ranked Garden City - with skill and determination. North Shore scored after 15 minutes, but the goal was revoked due to an early foul. Our great defensive team of Krista Hoffman, Samantha Kyrkostas, Blair Clancy and Maeve McGilloway kept Garden City scoreless until the last five seconds of the first half, when a ball got past goalie Danielle Uanino. Garden City five minutes to go in the game, bringing the final score to 3-1. April Mercadante scored off a play in the circle. Danielle had eight saves and played a great game.
