City of Glen Cove and CSEA Agree on Contract
The Glen Cove City Council met on Tuesday, June 25, in the main chamber of city hall. Before the regular business meeting began, Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp had the honor of hosting two extraordinary groups of young men and women, there to receive kudos from the city. Her first duty was to swear in the members of Explorer Post 520, the fire department's junior volunteer division. Charter members include Justin Valeo, Kelly Grazioso, Erica Lottes, Tom Kenary, Andrew Melillo, Matthew Venturino and Joseph Engel and Stacie Tripp.

Glen Cove Will Be Getting the Goods
HomeGoods, a major player in the home décor market, is planning to open a store in Glen Cove "later this year," according to Teleia Farrell, public relations supervisor for the company. HomeGoods is part of the TJX Corporation, parent company for TJ Maxx, Marshall's and HomeGoods, their home furnishings subsidiary.

Gavosto Wins LuHi Golf MVP
Steve Gavosto of Glen Cove, a junior at Long Island Lutheran High School (LuHi) received his second consecutive golf Most Valuable Player Award. In addition, he collected his fifth varsity letter. Thomas Piccininni of LuHi's athletic department handed out the award, noting Gavosto's accomplishments for the high school spring season.
