Mary Floccari left the city she has called home for more than a half century in the only way that would cause her to leave. The well-loved citizen of Glen Cove passed away on May 31.

GC Police Continue to Investigate Stabbing Incident
Glen Cove Police and Nassau County Second Squad are investigating an assault that occurred in front of the pool hall on Carney Street in Glen Cove soon after 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 2. According to Det. Sgt. Thomas Fitzpatrick of the Glen Cove PD, a 26-year-old Hispanic man was stabbed a total of five times in the torso and back. He was then transported in a private vehicle to North Shore Hospital at Glen Cove for treatment. The hospital staff notified Glen Cove police, and Det. John Nagle responded to begin the investigation. Det. Nagle contacted the Nassau County Second Squad, as Glen Cove is afforded privileges by Nassau County to have a Nassau County detective assist in felony situations. Det. Jeannie Fitzpatrick responded to work with Det. Nagle.

Glen Cove Varsity Softball Team Finishes Dream Season
The dream of every athlete is to make it to the championship game, and the 2002 Big Red Softball Team did just that by playing Valley Stream South last week, in the county finals, at Cantiague Park.

North Shore High School held its annual invitational track meet on May 7. This year's attendees were Valley Stream South, Wheatley, Jericho, Oyster Bay, Glen Cove, Cold Spring Harbor, Herricks, Locust Valley and Friends Academy.
