The Glen Cove Scorpions defeated Terryville 2-1 to move to the semi-final round of the Waldbaum's Cup. Glen Cove scored first when Phillip Rizzo passed the ball to Christian Floro, who put the ball past the goalie. Terryville tied the game late in the first half. Late in the second half Alexander Goldson passed the ball to Christian Floro, who scored his second goal of the game. A tough Terryville team was determined to tie the score but the Scorpion defense led by Matt Meli, Brandon Winkler, Kenny Spy, Dominic Brasiello, Joseph Fiorino, and goalkeeper Kevin Donovan kept Terryville from scoring. Defensive and offensive support was led by Rueben Jalbert who, late in the game, made a excellent tackle deep in the defensive zone late in the game. Tommy DeAngelis, Albert Grella and John Izzo supported midfield and offense. It was a great game of soccer on a beautiful sunny day. Coaches Ed Jalbert, Dave Spy and Mark Winkler are pleased about the way the Scorpions have developed as a team. Go Scorpions!
