(Ed. Note: The following letter was sent to the Trustees of the Gold Coast Library District, Rosemarie Ryba, president and is printed here at the author's request.)
More than 50 years ago, members of the North Shore Branch of the American Association of University Women were instrumental in the founding of the Manhasset Public Library. Tradition having thus been established, we would like at this time to extend our offer of support to you as you work toward the establishment of library services for the Gold Coast Library District. Our organization has always advocated programs that meet the needs of girls in elementary and secondary education and recognizes the importance of the cultural arts in improving the quality of life.
We applaud you for giving so unselfishly of your time and energies for the benefit of so many.
